Because we are having our music video along the themes of the TV show MADE we want to try and make it as similar as possible. We are planning to have the title and different titles for different scenes of the video for example, DAY 1: Building self confidence come typed up on notepad style paper. MTV also use this background in the progamme 16 and pregnant, which shows that this effect/ background will help us to attract our target audience of teenage girls.

First Day of Filming Notes.
Our first day of filming was pretty successful and we managed to get the majority of shots set int the house done however will still have a few more to do. We also may need to re-do some shots because of lighting issues and will ensure that next time we have the right lighting equipment ( floor lamp instead of hand held torch) to do this. We will also need to make sure we have props such as a face mask, razor and razor cream, pink dress, pearl necklace and seventeen magazine.

Website Analysis- Rhianna
Images & Logo
Represented as sexy and individual, the navigation page features a photo of her neck with an R painted over the image. It shows that although she is a sexualised artist she is also marketed to appeal to women so cannot be shows to be too revealing or seductive.
Genre
Flesh is shown, like most pop/RnB artists, however as she is more pop its not to such an extent as other artist of the RnB genre. Different to most other pop artists her website is dark, as opposed to bright like we expect from pop artists. However that may be due to her new "darker" pop to show her contrast from when she debuted as an artist.
New Technology & Links
The website offers the user various other ways to find out about Rhianna, via Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and Youtube. These various methods will increase her popularity and increase her music videos.
Colour & Style
The dark colour scheme shows that she is not a conventional pop artist, as we expect to see bright colours. However the font of the text is still girly and although the website is dark it still has a feminine look.
Written Content
Impersonal and not even faked to be written by the artist, just shows an account of what she has done. This reinforces the tough image she has in the pop genre.
Font and Layout
Font is quite girly on the homepage, the font is dusty pink and quite girly in its shape. However the rest of the sites font is black and bold, very different to the homepage. This shows that they are trying to construct the girly tough image.
Target Audience
She is not over sexualised so she can appeal to her target audience of women, however she still appeals to her male audience as the unusual image is still appealing to men, also we can see she is not targeted at young children as her website is not for children more for teenagers.
Advertisements
The only advertisements on the website are for herself, therefore it is suitable for the target audience.

Day 1 of filming 24/10/10 (weather forecast)
This is the weather report for tomorrow- which will be our fist day of filming. The majority of the clips we plan on shooting tomorrow are inside however there are one or two clips being shot outside of the house so it is lucky that there will be some sunny spells midday which is the time we will begin shooting.

Website Analysis Pixie Lott.
Images & Logo
The artist is represented as sexy and outgoing. She is pictured on a motorbike with glasses and her hair blowing in the wind.
Genre
The main text is pink which fits into the pop conventions traditional colours.
New Technology & Links
She has links to join her fan page on myspace, facebook, youtube, bebo and twitter feed.
Colour and Style
The overall style gives the artist a modern girly look. She does this with the use of pink against a black background. Moving images and a city backdrop.
Written content
The written info reinforces the artist as young fresh, ambitious and creative. They do this by referring to her age a lot and what she has already achieved.
Font and Layout
The layout is built up with lots of images and videos that keep the audience attracted to the site.
Target Audience
Main links to the social networks which will appeal to target audiences. Also no large bits of writing on homepage, younger target audiences attract more to images ect.
Advertisements
Laptop adverts, Gigs advertised, Nike trainers. Things suitable for target audience would all appeal to them.
Our Music Video powerpoint that we pitched to our target audience of teenagers
Overall, we recieved positive feedback. Athough we didn't explain what exactly will be happening to the extent that we planned, everyone liked our idea. Since our presentation we have decided what will be happending at each second of the track but we still need to decide on actors to play the charectors in our music video.

Locations
Quite a few of our shots will be filmed in a bedroom which will be the artists bedroom. When she is performing parts of the song it will be in here. The room is quite light already but we will have a light just in case it is needed. There is a power socket in the room and we can always use an extension cord to make the equipment easier to use We will decorate the room to make this a suitable location by putting posters on the wall of football teams etc and dark bedsheets to reflect that she is a tomboy. We will also use props in the rooms such as a guitar, football trophy's, and sporty clothing. This is an example of a poster we will use.
Another location were using is a bathroom, we will the the girl sitting on the edge of the bath attempting to shave her legs. This room is quite light ( it has two large windows) however we will bring a light to the location just in case. It may be quite difficult to get an electrical source safely in the bathroom but we plan to do this with an extension lead coming from a close by room.
Our final locations in the house will be the landing and stairs of the house. We will have to use an extension cord from a close room again to insure we can use our equipment properly.
Locations
For the last few shots in our music video we would like to loacate it in the market square when all of the christmas light are up. This is a picture of what the market square looked like last year so hopefully it will be the same this year. This would mean we can't film our last shots untill decemeber. If we want to finish before december then this is a picture of what the market square looks like now (taken 20.10.10) and this would be equally suitable for the shots we want.
website analysis- cheryl cole
Images & Logo -
Large pictures that take up half of the space of her face. Close-up photograph of the artist gives more of a personal representation. Represented in quite a sexual way, with the artist showing the top of her back and having no clothing visible.
Genre-
Light pink colours used with a black background. This fit’s the generic conventions with the black background indicating a modern classic look with pink used to define the girly pop genre.
New Technology & Links -
Links to by music on Amazon, Play and HMV websites. There is small ( but hardly viewable) social networking links.
Colour & Style -
The overall styling of the website is very classic, they artist uses this with classic italic font and images in black and white. However there is a modern twist with baby pink outlining around text and images.
Written content -
There is not a large amount of writing however there is small points of news and a small biography is available on other pages. This however will appeal to the younger target audience as they will appeal to the images more than text.
Font and Layout -
The artists image is constructed with the layout of the page half images and half small points of texts. There is also a sliding photographs with a small point of text with each photograph.
Target Audience -
To appeal to the target audience there is a large use of video and images. Other than that there is links to social networking sites which will appeal to the target audience as they will use these resources.
Advertisements -
Main advertisements include TV Licensing, which is suitable for the target audience as they will use these types of media to view the artist.
Website Analysis- Lady Gaga
Images and logo: There are very few images on this website, except the large image of lady gaga herself. This represents her personality which is that she is very independent and that she may have wanted to reflect that everything is about her and she doesn’t need any fancy gimmicks.
Genre: Generic conventions of the pop genre are used through the sexual images; such as the close up’s of her lips and face.
New technology & links: Gaga uses media technology for promotion through links to youtube videos links to her store, competitions and links to her twitter page.
Colour and style: The colours used are quite dark and metallic which is not typical if this genre. The style of the site is very sophisticated almost like a news spread, which says gaga isn’t just this wild abstract character that she portrays.
Font and layout: The layout is very formal using headings to section each part of the website. The font style stays consistent throughout but the sizing varies to highlight important information. This constructs Lady gaga’s image as she likes to be unique and since we wouldn’t expect this layout for her site it highlights again that she is unique and doesn’t like to follow generic conventions.
Written Content: The written style is again very sophisticated just stating the information about Lady Gaga not in a way which connects with the target audience.
Target Audience: Twitter is used to a large extent on her website, this could be because this is a way for her target audience to connect with her and follow what she is getting up to. There is also two links to two over websites ‘gagadaily.com’ and ‘ladygagaonline.net’ to intrigue her audience as these two websites could have simply been incorporated in her main website.
Advertisements: The advertisements to stop children being born with HIV, this suggests that Lady Gaga has a caring side to her and I think this is suitable for her target audience because they are likely to take an interest in this since Gaga is interested in it, so it can be used to create awareness in her cause.
Website analysis- Kesha
Website Analysis and research
Artist: Kesha
Images and logo: There are random images of wild animals scattered around the site to represent her fierce, rebellious, loud and crazy personality. There is also an image of Kesha herself, dressed in an animal print costume with a wild hairstyle and pose to further represent this. Her logo ‘Ke$ha’ is written in yellow tiger colours.
Genre: For the pop genre we expect big images of the artist in revealing costumes, bright, loud colours and wild/girly images. To an extent she follows this through the imagery of herself and the wild images however the colours chosen are quite dark. This could be to reflect that she is different to other pop artists.
New technology & links: Kesha uses media technology for promotion through youtube video’s of her released songs. Flashing images promoting her new album, and links to her own clothing store.
Colour and style: The colour is dark and gothic, and the style is consistent as the wild animal theme is reflected through the font, images and background. This says that the artist is a fun, party animal.
Font and layout: The layout is not in any particular order which reflects Kesha’s image, which is that she isn’t just an ordinary girl. The font type and style varies; her name is in a huge font to stand out from everything else, and important facts such as ‘Animal our now’ (the name of her new album) to capture the attention of browsers. Links are in normal, small font. The $ sign is used throughout to reflect her logo.
Written Content: The written style is quite formal, however there are some colloquial phrases which reinforce Kesha’s youthful image and the pop genre ‘twitter my ass’ and ‘latest stuff.’ There isn’t very much writing on her site and the majority of its content is images and video clips. There is also use of taboo language ‘you have no fucking idea’ which further represents her rebellious personality.
Target Audience: The use of social networking sites such as twitter is mentioned in order to target her audience of teenagers. The use of taboo language would attract her audience, images of Kesha which allows them to admire her image and want to be like her. And also the simple fact that there is a lot of imagery and video’s breaks up the intensity of writing so that it is a light read and could be seen as more fun, interesting and exciting.
Advertisements: The advertisements are suitable for the target audience. As her new album is being advertised, and her clothing range which are all things that fans would be interested in and also her music videos.

Main Characters for our Music Video
We have two main characters throughout this which need to transform their appearance completlet. Firstly the actress who will play Katy Perry needs to look very tomboyish a the begging then very girl at the end. And secondly the made coach, who is really girly.
Proposal Treatment & Letter.
The Band / Artist genre & Song Title-
We will be making a video for the song 'One of the boys' by Katy Perry, this song fits into the pop genre.
What image will you create (similar to which existing artists), how is this suitable to genre?
We will be creating a typically 'girly girl' image for our artist. Similar to the artists such as Keesha, Lady GaGa, Pixie Lott and Lily Allen.
What visual style are you intending to create, how does this relate to the mood of the song?
We will be using bright colours with dull (lighting) at times to follow the narrative. With the camera we will use a lot of close-ups to show emotion, and make the audience empathise with the character. We will also use a lot of long-shots to give insight into the narrative and set the scene.
What will happen in the video (narrative) and how does this relate to the song lyrics/music and mood?
Our video will compliment the lyrics and go with the song. Because we will illustrate the story of a tomboy who wants to be a 'girly girl' and attract the attention of a male.
How is this targeting expectation of the audience?
Because teenagers (espically female) can relate to the typical boy, girl love story.
Letter to Artist:
Dear Katy Perry or whoever it may concern,
We are writing to you, on behalf of students at Bilborough College in Nottingham to enquire/ask permission to use the song 'One of the Boys' from the debut album by Katy Perry, to produce a music video for the song as part of our A level Media Studies course. We will be working in a group of three to plan, direct, produce and edit the video. should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us via this email address,
Yours sincerely

MADE concept
For our music video we have chosen to include the "made" concept. Made is a television programme from the channle MTV where a person is coached to become their dream. Some examples is beign turned form a "geek" to a prom queen, a "nobody" to a cheerleader. The concept of the programme relies heavily on the labelling of teenages and and their need to conform, for various reasons. Our video will follow this idea that a tomboy feels that she needs to be girly to get the boy shes always loved. With the help of her coach she will transform from his best "like-a-guy" friend to the girl he realises he loves. Using Video diary entrys ( to show the performance element of our video) and other elements of the programme cush as the notepad style updates we will show we are trying to partray the programme. We chose this for our video as it tells our conventional boy/girl love story in a unique way which teeangers will recognise.
Following the concept of made, at the very beginging of our music video we will have various people in various locations saying they want to be 'made' and then the last person will be our artist (katy perry) who we will be getting 'made' (transformed) and the music video will be focusing on her.
Above is a clip of how made does this.
